Students will focus on completing large projects of their choice in either a performance work or a novella. We will work towards developing your work to a publishable standard. You will expand your editing skills and apply this to your work and that of your fellow writers. Students are made aware of writing competitions throughout the year and all are encouraged to enter. To date we have had five students win external competitions, they included; blurb writing for the Australian Society of Authors, a finalist in the ABC Pocketdocs competition, La Trobe University’s Solo Monologue Writing Competition and the Henry Lawson poetry competition.

Testimonial: Janet is a terrific teacher who brought out the creativity in each of us. Her style and general nature resulted in a great connection being formed within the group – we were free to (happily) share our ideas without fear of judgement (now that’s pretty rare). I had a thoroughly enjoyable time, learnt a lot and it helped me set up a regular routine to practising my creative writing. A big thank you to Janet and to you all for running such a great course and for providing a real community environment with such a welcoming vibe. – Neil, Hampton
