PHOTOGRAPHY & ART COMPETITION 2021

Due to COVID-19 and restrictions, things will look a little different this year for our annual photography and art competition.

Capture the moments with your pet! This includes all domesticated animals, from cats and dogs to chickens and horses. Show us why these critters hold such a special place in your lives and introduce us to your favourites!

Our annual photography and art competition celebrates our great local community. Thank you to everyone who has submitted photographs in the past. We look forward to your return and wish you luck in this year’s selection process.

Only one entry per pet

Preference artwork to be A4 size

Entries open: 9 am 8th September 2021

Entries close: 9 pm 10th October 2021

Virtual photography exhibition: TBA

Once restrictions are lifted we may exhibit the entries at Highett Neighbourhood Community House.

By submitting your photo you agree to the terms and conditions listed below.

Terms & Conditions

  1. Competition in 2021 only includes photography and artwork.
  2. Submissions will be on display on the Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center website and social media platforms. Submissions must be appropriate to be displayed on a public website – artwork that Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center deems inappropriate will not be displayed. Entrants will be contacted if the artwork is not accepted.
  3. This exhibition is a celebration of our community pets. Unless the photo or art is deemed inappropriate (as stated above) it will be accepted and displayed on the Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center website and promoted on social media sites.
  4. Submissions are accepted from 8th September 2021 – 9 pm 10th October 2021. Submissions will not be accepted after this date.
  5. Entrants can be of any age.
  6. Original artwork size preference to be A4 for display purposes.
  7. Entry must be through the online submission form.
  8. One entry per pet.
  9. The exhibition will be digital. Submission must be less than 5 MB each.
  10. Entrants and/or parents/guardians authorise Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center to share your photo entry, your first name, age, and description of the photo on the Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center website and Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center Facebook and Instagram pages. Photos may be reproduced for promotional purposes for this event including print and digital formats.
  11. Photos can be sold as part of this exhibition. Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center will contact the entrant and/or their parent guardian if they are under 18 expressing their interest to sell the photo and cost. Members of the public who enquire about purchasing photos will email events@highett.org.au and details will be passed to the entrant or their parent and/or guardian. It will be at the discretion of a parent and/or guardian to contact the interested buyer. Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center will not be part of the negotiation, selling, or delivery of photos. Entrants and buyers enter into these agreements independent of Highett Neighbourhood Community House and Hampton Community Center.
  12. Submissions may be on display for members to view at Highett Neighbourhood Community House once restrictions have been lifted and permitted to enter the premises.
  13. The winners will be announced in October and publicly announced on Facebook and our website.
  14. First photography prize: $100 and first art prize: $100. The judge’s decision is final.
  15. Submission must have been taken or created by the entrant and no other.
  16. Submission must have been taken or created in 2020 or 2021.
  17. Entrants must live within Bayside City Council or the City of Kingston.
