Reuse, recycle, repurpose scraps of fabric while exploring Japanese-inspired Boro style stitchery. Create a swatch of fabric that can be extended and developed into a bag or purse or whatever takes your fancy. Bring but only if you have them! any scraps of old fabrics, or old clothes your happy to cut up, any embroidery threads you may have, and a basic sewing kit, needles, scissors, pins, etc.

Museum Victoria has acquired Nicole Kemp’s (our brilliant art teacher at Highett NCH) COVID-19 hand-embroidered quilt as part of their “Stories of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s Suburbs” display. The display shows stories of COVID-19 in Melbourne’s Suburbs as a digital display that brings together a snapshot of stories collected across the suburbs of Melbourne in the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic.
