Beginners Crochet

Join our class for beginners as our experienced class tutor, Nicole Kemp, guides you through the fun (& challenges) of crochet stitching. You will learn and embed the basics so you can create a granny square, and perhaps have time to explore a project of your choice. Nicole’s experience will help and guide you to create your very own crochet piece. There are plenty of hooks and yarns to use in class, and projects provided, however, if you have particular colours/patterns in mind you will need to purchase yarn and hooks etc.
Once a winter art, crochet has now become popular all year round, with chunky yarns, cottons and traditional woollen yarn available and fabulous patterns and equipment available all year round. Also, come equipped with a fully charged phone and or iPad and your charger. We are basically a paper-free centre, so instructions and patterns will be passed to you via these devices.
BYO: Any yarn or equipment you have at home if you have them.

Who will be teaching?

Nicole Kemp has been involved in teaching art and crafts for over 30 years.  Nicole can be found teaching art to all ages – pre-schoolers, primary and secondary students and to adults at all stages of life. She loves the different challenges that the diverse age groups bring.  She is passionate about providing a safe and friendly environment where people feel free enough to learn the basics of art and can move on to exploring and developing their own ideas.

Nicole loves exploring all areas of creativity from painting, drawing, printmaking and textiles.  She is very inspired by the history of art, her travels, and the movement and colour of cities. She embeds her thoughts and feelings into all her work. Poking around suburban and city laneways provides much enjoyment, and inspiration always comes from graffiti.
